In search of a good breakfast in Phoenix (didn’t want to go all the way to Scottsdale for the Village Inn), we discovered Over Easy. Open for breakfast and lunch, they have a number of traditional favorites like pancakes, chicken and waffles and a traditional American breakfast. They have a wonderful chilaquiles, a traditional preparation topped with 2 eggs any style (in my case over medium). On our second visit, I had their chicken & waffles. In their case, they served a chicken breast with a light Belgian waffle. The most interesting and innovative offering I tried was their waffle dog, a sausage link dipped in waffle batter and deep fried. The portion included three. While it looked look too much food, I managed to finish all three. The restaurant has been featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and is a MUST DINE for foodies visiting the area. They make a very acceptable Bloody Mary at $8 with free (one cent) refills.
